Good afternoon, 66.1ers.

As mentioned, we’ve moved from Substack to beehiiv. It’ll be a better newsletter. Much more to come in the way of positive change in the next couple weeks.

If anything looks funky with your subscription, please reply here and let us know.

Make sure marcus@66point1 and [email protected] are in your address book so you don’t miss our newsletters now that we’ve made the shift.

Food for thought:

I’ve been thinking lately…

Is physical decline only a matter of time?
Is a pulled hamstring in beer league softball inevitable once you hit age 30?

Or is there a better way…

You see, I’m 31.
And I’d like to believe that I’ll be able to sprint without worrying about a pulled hammy for a few decades still.

That I won’t randomly sneeze and blow out my back.

Maybe my head’s in the clouds.
Or maybe…

There’s something we can do about all these “injuries of aging”.

This study tells us that stretching for 30 seconds increases hamstring flexibility.

This one shows a preventative relationship between cancer tumor growth and stretching.

I could go on, but the point is…

You’ve got to develop a mobility routine.

Stretch for 10 minutes before bed, in between Zoom calls, etc.
I’ll share my full mobility protocol in Saturday’s newsletter.

That one is for folks who are paying for 66.1 Premium.

A question for you:

Who are you listening to?

Are you building a life on your own terms, or are you doing what your boss/partner/parent/friend wants you to do?

Are you creating value only you can create, or are you doing a job anyone could do?
How can you shift more toward the former?

Are you losing your health because of age or complacency?

If you’re feeling brave, ask your 3 most trusted confidants to give you an honest assessment.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about ______. Really not sure what’s the right path. What do you think?” has opened many doors for me.

The real kicker here, though, is that you don’t have to follow their advice.

Listen, absorb, synthesize.

Then go and do what’s right for you.

Workout of the week 💪🏼

Barefoot sprints

You won’t get to see me in action this week.

But it’s aligned with the first section.

We’re going back to basics.

Take your shoes off and sprint.

6×100 yards.

If you’re not used to going barefoot, don’t sprint at 100%.
Throttle back to 80%.

If you try it, reply here and let me know how it goes.

That’s all for this Wednesday.
See you on Saturday.
Have fun out there.

Marcus
