41% more productive, nice vs helpful, a crazy push-up
Build your health, reclaim your freedom (Issue #126)
Read time: 3 minutes
Good afternoon, 66.1ers.
Keep an eye out for some updates in the next couple weeks.
Nothing crazy; just that we’re moving from Substack to Beehiiv. Make sure marcus@66point1 (that’s me!) is in your contacts so you don’t miss our newsletters once we make the shift.
Food for thought:
It’s spring here in Montana. Grass is green, skies are blue. Rivers and streams are full from snow melt.
With the warm weather comes a new perspective.
People are outdoors more. Rec league softball started. Everyone is happier.
According to this article, people who spend 20 hours or more per week in nature are 41% more productive than those who spend less than 30 minutes/week outside.

A question for you:
Nice vs helpful…
Often, the most helpful thing you can do isn’t the “nicest” thing. Your friend is in a tough spot and you don’t want to make it tougher. So you don’t tell them they need to make a big change.
When, in reality, that’s exactly what they need to hear.
Your coworker is wasting your time.
There was a meeting scheduled for 30 minutes, you wrapped up business in 15, and now they’re filibustering their way to the full 30 by talking about the weather. This is practicing terrible communication skills and terrible time management. But you don’t say anything for fear of offending them (which is code for “fear of people thinking I’m mean”).
But wouldn’t the more helpful approach be to interrupt them, tell them you have a busy day, and ask if there’s anything else work related they’d like to discuss?
Tolerance breeds resentment and kills growth.
At long last, this week’s question…
How much more helpful could you be if you weren’t so worried about being liked?
Workout of the week 💪🏼
The toe touch push-up. A push-up, with a “down dog” twist.

Ever spent a day driving across the country on a road trip, drinking as little water as possible for, you know, time reasons?
Or maybe it was on a flight.
Or a day out in the sun.
In the past month, I’ve had friends in all 3 scenarios complain that they had a migraine. If this is you, ibuprofen isn’t your answer.
Electrolytes are your answer.
Your body loses electrolytes in this scenario.
Not enough electrolytes means a headache.
Low energy.
It used to happen to me ALL the time after a long run, bike ride, or jiu jitsu training session.
I’m a regular, so they gave me a deal.
Get your free gift at checkout here (I recommend starting with Grapefruit or Raspberry).

That’s all for this Wednesday.
See you on Saturday.
Have fun out there.
