Good afternoon, 66.1ers.

Lots of patient calls lately. Good things. Hopefully something useful in today’s newsletter.

Food for thought:

Talked to a patient earlier today. He’s been out of work for a few years because of cancer treatment and related pain. Now, he’s not doing the PT exercises our team has suggested. We talked for a while. I said it seemed like the exercises weren’t a priority. He said, “You’re right. I’m not sure why.” We talked for 20 more minutes. Meandered. Talked about church, family, the dog. Eventually, back to his pain and those exercises.

Finally he told me he’s afraid to get better because then he’ll have to go back to work. And work is what caused the pain in the first place. No solution just yet. But we found the problem. And sometimes that’s the hardest part. Drilling all the way down to the root of the issue. Only then can you treat it and change someone’s life. We’ll talk a bunch over the next couple months so we can start to address the problem.

Think you could benefit from someone drilling down to the root cause in your life? Reply here.

A question for you:

Another patient. Can’t take pain relievers. Exercise is her only option. So she does the PT we suggest. The result? Powerful stuff. Question: what would happen if you just did what you know you should do? What’s keeping you from doing it?

Recommendation of the week

Cool people build cool stuff. My friends Andy and Chase operate GlueTread off-road tire repair. If you’re the type to explore the path less traveled, you might want to check them out.

That’s all for this Wednesday.
See you on Saturday.
Have fun out there.

Marcus
