Rules, rules, rules

So many rules about health. Do they work?

Read time: 3 minutes

Good evening, 66.1ers.

Rules, rules, rules!

Yuck.

Sleep 8 hours/night.

But why, then, are there nights when you sleep for 5 hours and feel great?
Or others when you sleep for 9 hours and feel like you got hit by a train?

Drink 3 Liters of water/day.

But what if you’re not thirsty?
Why would you drink water if you’re not thirsty?
If you’re eating a whole foods diet, do you need to drink the same amount of water as if you were eating a diet full of processed foods?

Eat 2,000 calories per day.

What if you’re a super athlete?
What if you have a sedentary job?
Spent the day traveling?
What foods should make up these 2,000 calories?

Who makes these rules?
Are they working?

Question of the week:

I’ve been asking a lot of questions lately. And I’m wondering if they’re helpful to you? So we’re going to do something different this week. Want to reply to this email and share your #1 burning question about healthy living? Sugar addiction, keto diet, how to train, finding your future spouse. It’s all fair game. Fire away, and I’ll make sure to address your question in a newsletter later this month.

Recommendation of the week:

Client asked yesterday what he could do to train abs because lying on the ground doing situps and planks is boring.

I steered him toward kettlebells. They develop your core while getting the rest of your body strong. Pavel’s a good starting place if you’re new to kettlebells:

Have fun out there.
