Good evening, 66.1ers.

I’ve had some good conversations this week.
I think I’ve learned some things.
I’m sharing some of them here, hoping they’re helpful?

Food for thought:

Lots of people asking about this one lately.
Basically comes down to this question: “Is my stress affecting my gut health?”
Answer part 1: Yes.
Answer part 2: I don’t know exactly how, why, etc.
I might put all that together in a future issue.

What I do know is the following:

A client had terrible stomach discomfort. Tried probiotics, yogurt, all the stuff the internet will tell you you should try. Then, by a series of events way beyond his control, his significant financial stress that had been marinating was resolved. So was his stomach stuff.

A different client had a family member in the hospital.
Her 8-year-old daughter’s friend died tragically.
She developed GI symptoms that had her visiting her doctor.
Family got out of the hospital.
Other events were processed.
Gut stuff?
Gone.

A friend battles severe acid reflux. He’s got multiple business ventures going, a kid on the way, lots of good things. All stressful, though.

I’ve dealt with it myself. My final year in Zambia was quite stressful. The years after were, too. Three years of stomach discomfort. Low energy. Brain fog.
Then I pulled the plug on medical school. Doubled down on building a solid friend group. Pretty soon the stomach thing sorted itself out.

Gut-brain connection?
Seems like it.

If your stomach is upset, is it because you ate something weird?
Or because you’re doing something weird?
What is your body telling you?
Are you treating the symptom or the cause?
Only one will improve things for good…

Do you drink alcohol?

Seems LinkedIn doesn’t!

Recommendation of the week:

Know anyone who’s struggled with heart disease? Do they know about Empallo?
I spoke with their founder, Claire, who was a Mayo Clinic Health and Wellness coaching classmate, earlier today.
Important work they’re up to.
Check them out:

That’s all for this Wednesday.
See you on Saturday.
Have fun out there.
