Good evening, 66.1ers.
Food for thought:
Are you a doctor?
A healer?
A crook?
Let me share a few examples.
We’re not working together, but Dr. Manuj Agarwal is helping cancer patients get back to living a healthy life. He’s doing things the right way, as far as I can tell.
But then there are folks out to make a buck off you…
My dentist seems eager to sell me a $5,400 orthodontic device after I chipped a tooth. “Would you like us to take the mold and get started today?”
No, I wouldn’t.
I’ll be looking for a new dentist, thank you.
I talked to a neurosurgeon the other day who wanted me to join his pyramid scheme selling supplements that will help the weight melt away.
I called my insurance company to ask if they’d cover the $5,400 dental device. Lots of, “I don’t know.” Well, then, who would know? Took us 30 minutes of getting on each other’s nerves to get to, “I’ll ask my colleagues and get back to you tomorrow.”
What about the people who don’t have insurance? Or a flexible working arrangement that allows them to burn an hour on the phone with the insurance company?
A reminder that you’ve got to be your own greatest advocate when it comes to your health (and your life!).
A question for you:
Who should Marcus focus on?
Recommendation of the week:
Dr. Cate Shanahan is always sharing contrarian (but accurate) science about nutrition. Here’s her latest:
That’s all for this Wednesday.
See you on Saturday.
Have fun out there.
Marcus
