2026 New Year's Reset
50+ pounds to lose? This might be for you
Read time: 3 minutes
Good afternoon, 66.1ers.
“Reset” sounds like you got mad at your computer and held down the power button for 30 seconds. Not quite, but not totally off the mark!
At any rate, I’m sharing something different to start 2026. Nothing too crazy, just going to focus my coaching on a certain type of person this year.
Specifically, folks who are:
25-40 years old (or thereabouts)
Weighing in at >300 pounds (or BMI >30)
Previously successful (competitive athlete, that sort of thing) and know, deep down, that they’re not fulfilling their potential
If this is you and you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, I’m looking for 12 people that are looking to work hard with me for the next 3-6 months to lose 15-30 pounds and build the foundation to lose the next 30-40.
Why the new focus? I’ve had the honor and privilege to work with hundreds of cancer patients at the Mayo Clinic (folks who are typically 55-70 years old) over the past 4+ years. But I keep saying that I want to help people avoid ending up like these patients I work with every day. And to do that, you’ve got to start decades earlier. If you’re a sports fan, it’s the health equivalent of playing offense instead of defense.
And if you look back on the clients I’ve been most helpful to over the past year, it’s people who have a lot of weight to lose, know they’re capable of more, and are still relatively young. Usually, taking control of their health is the first domino they need to knock down to help them be the spouse, employee, leader, parent, PERSON they’re meant to be.
It also (and maybe this should’ve come first!) makes life a whole lot more fun. It was true for me when I decided to get serious about my health 10 years ago and it’s been truer every day since.
If you’ve already heard enough and you want to talk, book a call here.
If this isn’t for you but someone you believe in comes to mind, just forward them this email, cc me, and I’ll follow up with them in a few days.
Not sure if you want to book a call, but you’re still reading? Maybe you want to read some of these newsletters and LinkedIn posts I’ve written over the years, see if we’re on the same page? Some are personal experience, some are an effort to show you an uncomfortable truth, some are more philosophical. If you’re not a 25-40 year old with 50+ pounds to lose, feel free to stop reading and forward this piece to someone who is.

Read ‘em? Cool.
If you think we should talk, you can book a call here. You’ll notice the “Agenda” field is mandatory. Might be kinda confusing if we’ve never met, so here’s some stuff to help you come up with an agenda:
How much weight do you want to lose? How long have you been trying to lose weight? Have you lost it before and regained it, or is this a first effort? If you lost it before, what did you do to lose it last time? If this is a first effort, what have you tried already? When’s the last time you looked in the mirror and said, “Heck yeah. I look good!”?
Who else have you told that you’re working to change your life? 6 months from now, if you lost 50 pounds, how would life look different? Is there stuff you’d be able to do that you can’t today? People who would say, “Holy guacamole! You’ve changed. A good sort of change. How’d you do it?”?
There’s no “right” agenda. Just your agenda. I’ll read it and reply with thoughts/questions so we can make the most of our conversation.
Last thing: if none of the available slots work for you, reply here with an invite for a time that works for you and I’ll accept if I can.
Happy New Year!
