A question for you:

This week’s question is inspired by George Mack’s essay “High Agency in 30 Minutes”.

We often get trapped in our own minds, thinking that we can’t change our circumstances.

Of course, that’s never true.

Zoom out for a second. Think about your current biggest challenge in life.

Now, think of the friend you’d call if you woke up in a 3rd world jail cell.

How would they address the challenge?

Go and do that.

It’s probably going to involve skipping a few steps you thought were “necessary” (spoiler alert: they probably aren’t).

An example might help…

Let’s say you’re struggling to get into a training routine. What would your jail cell escape friend do in your shoes?

The answer would probably look something like the following:

They’d simplify the routine. That might look like this:

20 minutes/day (because you’re busy)At home (again, you don’t have the time)With kettlebells (low-cost, low complexity, high likelihood of increasing fitness)Only 2 movements (swing and press, for example)

You just went from needing to travel to the gym, pack a bag, work out on dozens of machines for an hour, to moving 2 kettlebells for no more than 20 minutes.

Where else can you do this in your life?
